Afaliah Tribune is a Columbus, Ohio-born, New York City-based choreographer, educator, and multidisciplinary artist. She holds a BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University and an MA in Dance in the Professions from NYU Steinhardt. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Dance at The Ohio State University, deepening her research in African Diasporic dance forms, choreography, and performance.
Tribune has toured internationally, performing across Japan, Australia, and Africa with renowned artists and companies, including Rennie Harris Puremovement, Joe, and 50 Cent. Her work has been featured on prestigious stages such as the MTV Music Awards and in Philip Hamilton’s VOICES. With a deep commitment to dance education, she spent eight years on faculty at NYU’s Steinhardt Dance Education Program, serving as Co-Advisor for the Dances of the African Diaspora track.
As the Creator and Director of TribuneLAB, a nine-week dance technique, therapy, and performance intensive, Tribune fosters the next generation of artists through holistic training. She is also an accomplished songwriter, having composed original vocal scores for independent choreographers and dance companies, as well as writing for television series.
Her choreography has been presented at esteemed venues, including The Kennedy Center, Dance Africa, Middlebury College, and Radio City Music Hall. As the Artistic Director of Afaliah Tribune Dance, she brings together her passions for dance, rap, and song to create work that speaks to shared histories, cultural memory, and community connection.
